September 9 was the begining of the 2018-2019 BC wheelchair basketball season.
With a goal to get more people out to try the sport, we hosted 2 different Have-A-Go events, Women's Only and All Comers, at the South Arm Community Centre in Richmond, BC.
As well, our young juniors took to the basketball court, at Trinity Western University, for the first of their camps in preparation for the 2019 Canada Winter Games.
Each week BC Wheelchair Basketball Society hosts a variety of club programs throughout the province. These are run with our regional clubs and are a great way to learn the skills of wheelchair basketball and wheeling. Many are open to all ages and abilities, and some are more competitive by nature. This is a great way for not only mobility challenged players to get in some court time, but they are also open to able bodied players who are looking for a new challenge from the stand-up game by joining in on the fast paced wheelchair version of the game.
