Annual Awards

In an effort to recognize outstanding contributions and achievements in the sport of wheelchair basketball in British Columbia, 9 awards are normally distributed annually by the BC Wheelchair Basketball Society.  The Kenny Hall Spirit Award, MJ Bourdreault Award and Masen Shreve-Hein Spirit Award are also available for nomination. The 2023 Awards were presented at the BC-CWBL Finals in Surrey, April 13th.

Athlete of the year is open to all BC wheelchair basketball members that self-identify as either a man or a woman, and gender expansive people. Nominees in this category should have demonstrated outstanding dedication to training and/or personal performance during the year and continued to show commitment to wheelchair basketball.
Two nominees will be chosen for this award. 

Given the limited playing opportunities in 2021, athletes may not have been able to play the game to its’ fullest, but have continued to strive to better themselves and their game and strive for personal and athletic growth.
