BC Breakers competed at the CWBL Women's National Championships in Montreal on April 15-17.
Breakers played four teams from across country in the round robin, finishing 4th in the pool to advance to the bronze medal game on Sunday.
Breakers played Calgary Rollers, whom they lost to in a close game on Friday, in the medal game. They had a tough start against the Rollers but came back in the 2nd and 3rd quarters to improve the scores to 42-44. However, Breakers could not pull it off at the end (final score: 53-62) and finished 4th in the tournament.
Breakers had seven athletes on the team in Montreal, of which four of them were new (1st or 2nd year being selected for the team.) Being relatively young and less experienced team, Breakers performed very well overall. Breakers Head Coach, Makiko Harada complimented the athletes saying, "We played our best and I am very proud of these ladies. BC has many up and coming players now and I am looking forward to growing our program together with veteran players and developing players next season."
Amanda Yan was selected for a tournament all-star at the end of the tournament.
