FOUR TEAMS TO BATTLE FOR GOLD AT 2018 CANADIAN WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL LEAGUE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
(May 5, 2018 - MARTENSVILLE, SASK.) The defending champion Gladiateurs de Laval will meet Team BC once again in the tier one gold medal match Sunday at 12 pm CT at the 2018 Canadian Wheelchair Basketball League (CWBL) National Championship in Martensville, Saskatchewan.
"It's good to know that our veterans still have some magic left," says Simon Cass, head coach of Team BC "We're looking forward to a rematch of last year's final against the Gladiateurs de Laval."
In the tier two division, Saskatchewan White and the Brampton Cruiser Suns will face off for the national crown at 11 am CT Sunday.
"I'm proud of this young team who fought hard through the full 40 minutes to advance to the gold medal match at home tomorrow," says Shawn Scherr, Saskatchewan White's head coach. "It's pretty spectacular."
The Lethbridge Steamers and Manitoba of tier two, and Saskatchewan Green and the Alberta Northern Lights of tier one will battle for the bronze at 9 am and 10 am CT, respectively.
The three-day tournament is co-hosted by Wheelchair Basketball Canada and Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports Association (SWSA) and features the top club teams in the country competing for the title of national champions in two tiers at the Martensville Athletic Pavilion.
