Hoopfest 2017 Raises $25,000 for Wheelchair Basketball Participants

May 28, 2017

Thank you to the partners, supporters, participants and volunteers who made Hoopfest 2017 a success. Together, we raised $25,000, which will help athletes with disabilities across the province participate in wheelchair basketball.

The evening's festivities saw teams from YVR, Burnaby Firefighters, Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society, viaSport, Invacare, Vancouver Police Department, and Steamworks battling it out on the wheelchair basketball court, coached by elite wheelchair basketball athletes. In the end, the final came down to the Burnaby Firefighters against the Surrey Firefighters. The Surrey Firefighters were crowned this year's champions.

A special thank you to YVR, our presenting sponsor. We are also grateful to:

  • Invacare: Dinner and T-shirt partner
  • TSN 1040 Vancouver: Media Partner
  • Steamworks: Beer Partner
  • Blasted Church: Wine Partner
  • Passion Sports: Clothing partner
