Team British Columbia 1 defeated Team Manitoba 1 14-6 to win gold at the 2024 Junior West Championship in Regina.
Jeffer Ward paced Team BC 1 with six points, and Keaton MacEachern added five in the win.
“I'm proud of the guys. We were shorthanded this weekend, and they stuck with the process. They learned from every game, and they stayed positive,” said BC 1 coach Adam Frost. “Then, today, they came out and executed and really proud of them and happy for them.”
Team Alberta 1 beat Team Saskatchewan 1 13-5 to place third in Division 1.
In the Division 2 gold medal game, Team British Columbia 2 edged Team British Columbia 3 8-7.
Lachlan Sandford and Brandon Twaites, a Division 2 all-star, each scored three points in Team BC 2's win. BC 3 was led by five points from Caden Hyde, and Heidi Boland, also a Division 2 all-star, chipped in two points.
“We started off with a new group of kids, and it didn’t take long before they figured out how to play together,” said BC 2 coach Kevin MacEachern. “They improved every game right to the end, culminating in a win with less than a second to go in the gold medal game, so there's lots to look forward to with this group.”
