Douglas College Royals are heading to Charlottetown, PEI, this weekend to represent BC and compete for the club teams national title!

Parasport and Recreation PEI, the City of Charlottetown, and Wheelchair Basketball Canada to host 2012 Canadian Wheelchair Basketball League Open Finals
Charlottetown, PEI – The top eight competitive wheelchair basketball club teams in Canada will be in Charlottetown, PEI April 6-8, 2012 to compete for the title of National Champion at the 2012 Canadian Wheelchair Basketball League Open Finals. Charlottetown last hosted the tournament in 1992.
The tournament will feature Team Canada veteran Dave Durepos (Fredericton, NB), who will compete in his fifth Paralympic Games this summer in London, 2013 Junior Team Canada hopefuls Joel & Jeremy Watts (Charlottetown, PEI) and other skilled players from across Canada.
“We are delighted to be hosting such a high profile event, and we are looking forward to welcoming all the teams, officials and their supporters to Charlottetown,” said chair of the local host committee, Tracy Stevenson. “We have been working hard to put on a first-class championship and we are excited to be hosting the best wheelchair basketball in Canada.”
“This is a staple event on the national wheelchair basketball calendar and we are thrilled to see it return to Charlottetown for the first time in two decades,” said Wheelchair Basketball Canada Executive Director Wendy Gittens. “We look forward to an action-packed weekend of highly competitive basketball and an experience that players, organizers and fans will not soon forget.”
