NEW Dates Announced for 2018 Canadian Women’s Wheelchair Basketball National Championships

September 19, 2017 (Vancouver, BC) British Columbia Wheelchair Basketball Society (BCWBS) is pleased to announce that in conjunction with Wheelchair Basketball Canada we will be hosting the 2018 Canadian Women’s Wheelchair Basketball National Championships.

BCWBS will present the CWBL Women’s National Championship from April 6-8, 2018 at the Richmond Oval, Richmond, BC. The Richmond Olympic Oval, built for the 2010 Winter Olympics and was originally configured with a long track speed skating rink is a strong community partner of BCWBS.  It acts as an indoor multi-sports arena and hosts a variety of grassroots wheelchair basketball events throughout the season.

“BCWBS has played host to the National Championships in recent years, 2012 and 2014, and we are thrilled to work with Wheelchair Basketball Canada again this year to bring the event back to our province”, said BCWBS Executive Director Sian Blyth.

The tournament features six (6) teams from across Canada as they compete for the title of CWBL champions. The CWBL also features play from both athletes with a disability and able-bodied athletes and includes past, present, and future athletes within the Canadian National Team program.

“B.C. has a long history of women’s wheelchair basketball excellence and we can’t wait to inspire the next generation of female athletes,” says Blyth.
