Hello Fall City Leaguers!
We hope that you are ready for the third night of the fall city league tomorrow, Sept 27.
First, an important announcement: For the first time, the Tim Frick City League will be played with 4-on-4 (4 players per team on a court at one time) instead of the traditional 5-on-5.
Here's why:
- With only 4 players on the court, everyone gets more chances to touch the ball and shoot.
- With one less person on each team, there's also more space on the court for you to work on picks and rolls and other basketball elements.
- Playing 4 on 4 will allow us to have 4 teams, which means more games for everyone!
If you have any questions or comments about this, don't hesitate to email Arley, Brian or Joe, or talk to them at the gym. We'll give the 4-on-4 format a shot, and if it doesn't work we'll go back to the traditional 5 on 5.
What does this mean for you:
We'll be switching to 4 teams, so you'll get two games per session! Please show up at 7:30 ready to go.
We're still in the process of shuffling the teams to make 4 teams instead of 3, so you'll get your new teams when you arrive on Tuesday.
Also, some of you who only played the first game and left early last week may have missed the other announcement. We're adding a fun twist this year called the "Tim Frick City League Online Scavenger Hunt." Each week, Arley will give you an "item" to find on the internet, which will relate to wheelchair sports. You find the "item" and email your answer to Arley and she will give you a point for a correct response. The purpose of this is to encourage you to discover more about wheelchair sports, especially wheelchair basketball! At the end of the City League, we'll have prizes for the top individuals and teams, as well as extra prizes for creativity, humour, etc.
Last Week's Item: Find a video that has to do with both wheelchair sports and music. This could be a video montage, a music video, a commercial...or anything that showcases wheelchair sports and is set to music.
Happy hunting!
