BC Wheelchair Basketball and its volunteer, Art Kelz, have won $20,000 to make a “mobility dream” come true in the Honda Mobility Dream contest. Kelz coordinates several wheelchair basketball teams in the Okanagan Valley and his dream of creating a team in Vernon and Penticton is being realized with the donation of ten adult-sized basketball wheelchairs from Honda Canada and two additional chairs from Creative Mobility Products Inc. and wheelchair manufacturer, Invacare Canada.

You are invited to participate in the 13th Annual Junior Challenge Wheelchair Basketball Festival, hosted by the BC Wheelchair Basketball Society! All wheelchair basketball players between 8-24 years old (with some exceptions) are welcome. We are introducing 3 on 3 format so you’ll get more games and more touches to develop your skills and game.

It was a celebration of Olympic proportions at Fort St. John’s Pomeroy Sport Centre last night, with Bo Hedges as the guest of honour. On Wednesday evening, a large group of residents gathered at the facility to celebrate a gold medal victory from London’s 2012 Paralympic Games Wheelchair Basketball event, with local athlete Bo Hedges and his shiny new gold medal both in attendance for the celebration.

Seattle Adaptive Sports are once again hosting the Dribble on Wheels Camp this fall. Former BCWBS coach Matt Buchi will be leading the camp in Seattle on October 13-14. The coaching clinic will also be hosted during the camp with no cost.

In an attempt to provide leadership and resources to increase measurable growth in the participation base, as well as develop opportunities that will encourage appropriate and relevant participation and competition, the organization dedicates financial resources for Special Project Funding that Clubs and Provincial Sport Organizations can apply for annually.

PacificSport Northern BC in partnership with many northern communities is facilitating SportZ Xtravaganza to bring awareness and participation opportunities of the 2015 Canada Winter Games (and Summer Games) sports to the youth and their families on one day, in conjunction with Sports Day in Canada. Try or learn about a sport activity during the day that is available through an organized local sport organization in your community.

The Canadian Men's Wheelchair Basketball Team concludes the tournament with a sterling 8-0 record and solidifies its dominance on the world’s biggest stage. The victory marks Canada’s 31st win since 2000, improving their overall record to 31 wins and 1 loss in the last twelve years. They have collected three gold and one silver medal in that time.

(LONDON) The Canadian Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team cruised past Colombia 68-42 Monday and will head into the quarterfinals of the London 2012 Paralympic Games with a perfect 5-0 record. They finish in first place in their pool and now wait for their opponent in the next round to be decided later today. It will be one of Spain, Turkey, or the United States.
