This FREE event will be led by a special guest coach from theBC Wheelchair Basketball Society. Prizes and a spirit meal included!All basketball players are welcome and sport wheelchairs are provided. The first 15 registrants are guaranteed a spot in the challenge.

The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) has launched a new video entitled Introduction to the IWBF Player Classification System. The video is designed to be a international classification resource and it is available in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

A new player from Powell River, Jenna Blakeney is playing for the Gold Rush in Division II this year.Jenna is one of the active players in Powell River and she has already attended a few camps and tournaments that were hosted in Lower Mainland in the fall.

On December 10 & 11, junior athletes from all over the province as far as Prince George, Powell River, and Okanagan, and from Washington State converged on Richmond for the 2011 BC Junior Wheelchair Basketball Challenge. Host to two divisions this year, the 10ft performance and 10ft challenge divisions.

"What if?" That was the question asked by community coach Mitch Kostermann at a restaurant table almost a year ago. Mitch coaches the Langley GoldRush Jr. Wheelchair team and he launched his idea to a meeting of Fraser Valley coaches, Emily Herd and Brad Hagkull, who were invited together for a planning meeting by BCWBS Program Coordinator, Makiko Harada. "What if we were to try and get our teams to play each other? Instead of just having weekly practices in our own communities, let's give our groups a road trip to look forward to."

A BCWBS member and Paralympian Richard Peter will be honoured at the 19th Annual National Aboriginal Achievement Award on February 24 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, BC. The official announce was made in Ottawa on Novemeber 22.
