Fundamentally, Basketball is being able to affectively shoot the basketball into the opponent’s basket and defend your own basket from the opponent, would essentially win you the game. BUT, how do you expect to get the ball there without being able to affectively handle the ball? Knowing how to dribble, stationary and moving, will be a vital part of your basketball knowledge.

Teams from across BC and our friends from Tacoma, came together for the 2012 BC-CWBL Finals at the David Lam Campus of Douglas College in Coquitlam, BC the March 2-4 weekend. With a combination of tough competition between all D2 teams in their games and the intense battle of Douglas College’s D1 Lions and Royals, the tournament was a great success. All teams showed great heart and determination throughout the competition.

BCWBS is hosting a Junior Wheelchair Basketball Division in 2012 Steve Nash Youth Basketball Challenge hosted by Basketball BC. This is an exciting event focused on providing junior players with a positive competition and skill development experience just for them. We will be playing 4 games (TBC) in the Steve Nash Youth Basketball Challenge which not only wheelchair basketball, but also stand-up basketball as well as Special Olympic basketball will be competing in. This event (wheelchair basketball division) is for youth born January 1, 1994 or later and is played on the lowered – 8 ½ ft basketball hoop height and/or on 10ft hoops pending the number of participants.

This honour, to be awarded at Sport BC’s 46th Annual Athlete of the Year Awards presented by TELUS, recognizes a British Columbian who has contributed to sport in an extraordinary way over an extended period of time.

This means we can play games on both sides, and take advantage of the additional hoops for shooting drills and games.Just reminder, the Women's Basketball coach has agreed to allowed us to come in at 7:20. Kamloops Bull-Dawgs will be hosting BC-CWBL (Provincial League) Division 2 tournament this weekend (Feb 3/4). Four teams will be competing at Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops and a skill sessions for the participating players will be held by our new regional coach Matt Buchi on Saturday.
