The BC Junior team competed in the Junior Regional Tournament in Regina, Saskatchewan on March 24-25. There were 3 teams at the tournament including the BC team, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Because of the different point systems used at different levels of competition, athletes’ roles and responsibilities often change throughout a season, a weekend or even a game. This article will focus on the intangibles of success which rarely get recognized.

This spring, from mid-March to early May, Northern Program Coach Avril Harris and Program Coordinator Nancy Harris visited seven different cities in northern region. They have reached about 2900 students and facilitators through the tour!!

Richmond, BC – With the tournament’s most outstanding offensive players at the helm the BC Breakers propelled themselves to a 77-56 win over the Calgary Rollers in the women’s gold medal final of the 2012 National Championships; while Ontario claimed first place in the men’s final with a golden 76-52 win over the BC provincial team Sunday at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

On April 14th, the BC Wheelchair Basketball Society hosted its 19th Annual Fundraiser, Hoopfest at the Cambie Secondary School in Richmond. The day was once again a great success and we are so very thankful to everyone that has supported us this year – some which are long time supporters.

Basketball BC hosted the Steve Nash Youth Challenge at a year-end tournament and for the second straight year Wheelchair Basketball participated. Young players from across the province had a great basketball weekend at the Langley Events Centre. They shared the sport of wheelchair basketball in an exciting initiative where able-bodied basketball players had the opportunity to try playing their sport from a wheelchair.
