From Regional Coach, Joe Higgins - May 2011

Every season has some tournaments that are more important than others. The preparation required of coaches and athletes in these tournaments is usually quite different from the other tournaments throughout the season. Athletes and coaches may be more stressed and intense at these times, and the expectation of execution from both a team and individual perspective is high. Some examples of this would be coaches becoming more detail-focused in game planning, game coaching, and in expectation of athlete preparation. Inexperienced players may notice a deterioration in their execution of play.

From Provincial Coach, Cheryl Corrigan - May 2011

As the 2010 – 11 season comes to an end, it’s time to reflect on where we’ve been since we all started back in August…Canada Games tryouts…High Performance camps…and all sorts of tournaments, both here and afar. It has been a very successful season, both for individuals and all of our various teams. And while you wait for next season to start, be sure to take the time off wisely by cross training and getting in some active recovery. Lots of wonderful cross training opportunities in Vancity: hand cycling the Sea Wall, kayaking, checking out the track or sledge practices, or perhaps barbecuing…;)
